Working and Performing on the Arcade Stage with Professional Actors, Directors & Designers

At Florida Rep, the interns play a vital role in the production process, and the theatre relies heavily on intern support. An intern’s duties involve a myriad of tasks and require an enthusiasm to work and to learn. The aim of the program is that interns leave with a clear understanding of how this business works on every level , and with real-world experience in a number of capacities using a wide range of skills.

Internships in Acting

The Education Program at Florida rep is centered around, but not limited to, the Children’s Touring Theatre Program and the Lunchbox Theatre Series. Performing in these plays is solely the Acting Interns’ responsibility. Please see the Education Page for information on the 2007-2008 Children’s Plays.

Casting Opportunities Do Exist!
Florida Rep does not guarantee lead roles, but does promise stage time on the Arcade Stage. Florida Rep wants to hire acting interns it can cast. Interns earn Equity Points through the Equity Membership Candidacy Program (EMC) when cast in a main stage show, and work with professionals from all over the country. Many of the program’s alumni still work with Florida Rep, and will continue to for years to come.

Internships in Production

The production interns spend all of their time in real-world settings — working in the production shops, rehearsal studio, backstage and on the light and sound boards. These interns work primarily with the Rep’s resident production staff, alongside professionals in lighting, scenery, sound and costume designers, and with Equity stage managers and actors. Florida Rep offers production internships in Stage Management, Electrics, Costuming and Carpentry/Props.
